Town closes swimming pool and other recreation facilities for 30 days

COVID-19

ST. PAUL - While residents are still at a low risk and no presumptive cases of COVID-19 have been noted in the area, a number of recreation facilities within the Town of St. Paul will be closed for 30 days, effective immediately.

A joint media release sent out by the County of St. Paul, Town of St. Paul, Town of Elk Point and Summer Village of Horseshoe Bay notes that most municipal services will operate as normal, including road maintenance, water, wastewater, and waste management. Public buildings, such as municipal offices, will stay open at this time.

But, "St. Paul Aquatic Centre, the Clancy Arena and all other Town recreation facilities are closed immediately for 30 days," reads the release. The town will reassess the situation in 30 days to determine what is in the best interest of the health of citizens.

The St. Paul Municipal Library was also included in the closures as of March 14.

The media release reaffirms the province's direction of asking groups to cancel all events that include more than 250 attendees, including sport events.

"The public will be advised as soon as possible of any changes. The municipalities encourage the public to use online payments if possible, as well as requesting information by phone or email rather than attending our office in person at this time," states the release.

"The municipalities within the St. Paul region are continuing to monitor the situation and will advise the public if there are outbreaks in the region."
