TWO HILLS - The Two Hills hospital continues to experience service disruptions in its emergency department.

"Until Monday, April 11, 2022, the Two Hills Health Centre emergency department (ED) will be temporarily closed starting at 10 p.m. on Mondays. Regular operations will resume 8 a.m. on Fridays."

A notice was released on Feb. 28 stating the Two Hills ED would be temporarily without overnight on-site physician coverage on weekdays until April 11.

"As a result, the ED will be closed from 8 p.m. to 8 a.m. Monday to Thursday. Weekend locum coverage for the ED is in place," reads the news release.

AHS says it is working to ensure residents continue to have access to care during this time.

"Patients who may arrive at the site will be seen by a Registered Nurse, who will provide first aid or call EMS as required," says AHS.

As always, patients are asked to call 911 if they have a medical emergency.

"During this time, EMS will transport patients requiring emergency care to nearby facilities, including St. Therese Healthcare Centre in St. Paul and St. Joseph’s Hospital in Vegreville," according to the media release.

Residents can also call Health Link at 811, which is available 24/7 for non-emergency, health-related questions.

Long-term care, acute care and rehabilitation beds are not impacted.
