ST. PAUL/ELK POINT - The Iron Horse Ultra is set to take place this weekend in the St. Paul and Elk Point areas.
The ultra-marathon challenges athletes to tackle 100-km or 100-mile trails as teams or soloists. According to information from organizers, 168 runners are registered in the 2022 Iron Horse Ultra 100, which includes 18 100-mile soloists, 57 100-km soloists, four 100-mile teams, and 14 100-km teams.
Thousands of volunteer hours are devoted to the event, doing tasks such as flagging the route. Please watch for runners out rural areas between St. Paul and Elk Point as they set out to tackle the feat on Saturday morning.
