Update: RCMP ID suspect in relation to Cold Lake auto thefts

Police are thanking the media and public for their assistance.

Cold Lake RCMP are advising that a suspect has been identified in relation to last week's break and enter at a Cold Lake business.

Police released an image of a suspect to media outlets on Feb 27, saying they believed the man was involved in a February 17 break-in and theft at a Cold Lake business near Highway 55. Cold Lake RCMP said eight vehicles were stolen from the property, three were vandalized, and extensive exterior damage was done to the business. A wallet belonging to the owner of one of the stolen vehicles was reportedly left inside one of the vehicles, and police believe a suspect used funds in the wallet to purchase items from a Cold Lake convenience store.

The image of the suspect shared by police was reportedly taken from CCTV footage in the convenience store.

On Wednesday morning, less than a day after releasing the image, RCMP issued the update thanking the media and public for their assistance in identifying a suspect.

Cold Lake RCMP say that as the investigation develops updates will be provided.
