Albertans can now receive their first dose of Moderna COVID-19 vaccine without an appointment at walk-in clinics in six communities in the Alberta Health Services North Zone. Lac la Biche County has two vaccination centres in the Lac La Biche hamlet, one at the new Protective Services Building on Beaverhill Road and the other at the Lac La Biche Health Unit at the Provincail Building.

Communities offering walk-in clinics:

  • Grande Prairie – Montrose Cultural Centre, 9839 103 Ave.
  • Fort McMurray – MacDonald Island Park, 1 C.A. Knight Way
  • Lac La Biche -  Community Health Services, 9503 Beaverhill Road; COVID-19 Immunization Clinic, 9110 Beaverhill Road

  • High Level – Native Friendship Centre, 10904 95 St.
  • La Crete – 10601 100 Ave.
  • Fort Vermilion – Community Cultural Complex, 5001 44 Ave.

Full clinic details — including locations, dates and operating hours — are available online: https://www.albertahealthservices.ca/topics/Page17295.aspx#walkin.

AHS officials encourage all Albertans born in 2009 or earlier to protect themselves and others by being vaccinated as soon as possible. Please bring your Alberta Health Care card if you have one, along with photo ID. You will be required to wear a face mask and use hand sanitizer when visiting the site for your immunization.

Walk-ins for first dose only

Second doses are not available at these walk-in clinics. Bookings for second dose appointments can be made online at the AHS COVID-19 Online Booking Portal, calling Health Link at 811 or through a participating pharmacy.

AHS officials say it is important "to remain vigilant in the fight against COVID-19" and to follow public health guidelines at all times. This includes maintaining physical distancing and masking.

Health officials say that anyone experiencing symptoms should stay at home and arrange for COVID-19 testing through AHS.ca or by calling 811.
