LAKELAND - The Bonnyville-St. Paul-Cold Lake-Lac La Biche region is under a winter storm warning according to Environment Canada.

The alert was issued in the afternoon of Jan. 12 and states, "Hazardous winter conditions are expected."

A system moving into central Alberta will see heavy snowfall, and at times freezing rain beginning overnight on Tuesday.

"The precipitation will gradually ease by early Wednesday evening. Snowfall accumulations between 10 and 20 cm are expected," according to Environment Canada.

As the system intensifies, gusty winds will also create blowing snow on Wednesday.

"Rapidly accumulating snow could make travel difficult over some locations. Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots will become icy, slippery and hazardous," cautions the storm warning.
