Woman arrested in connection to home invasion in Bonnyville

Bonnyville RCMP have arrested two women, one in connection to a home invasion on Feb. 26 and another in relation to a break and enter of a home on Feb. 28.

BONNYVILLE – At 9 p.m. on Feb. 26, Bonnyville RCMP received a report that a home invasion that had just taken place.   

“Members attended the victim’s residence and determined a 39-year-old woman from Bonnyville, who is well known (to) police, was the suspect and had arrived at the victim’s residence with an axe, damaged her car and interior property, and threatened to kill her,” according to an RCMP press release.   

The female suspect was located and arrested. She was also reported to have methamphetamine on her person at the time of her arrest, police say.   

The 39-year-old is charged with breaking and entering a residence, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, possession of crystal meth, and two counts of mischief to property under $5,000.   

She was brought before a Justice of the Peace and released on conditions. Her first appearance date is March 22 in Bonnyville Provincial Courts. 

Break-in at a home 

Two days later, on Feb. 28 Bonnyville RCMP received a report at 10:15 p.m. from a man who reported an unknown intoxicated woman had entered his residence and was trying to gain access to his car.   

The man told police he did not know who the female trespasser was. 

Members attended and located the woman was reportedly outside near the victim’s vehicle.   

She was arrested for mischief, and while she was being led away in handcuffs the woman allegedly threatened to come back and kill the victim.   

The 29-year-old woman from Fishing Lake is charged with uttering threats, break and enter and mischief.   

She was brought before a Justice of the Peace for a bail hearing and was released on conditions without having to pay bail.   

She is set to appear in court on March 22 in Bonnyville Provincial Court.
