Held over the weekend at the Clancy Richard Arena on Jan. 25 and 26, St. Paul Minor Hockey hosted 16 U9 hockey teams from across Alberta.

Emergency rooms in hospitals in Lac La Biche, Elk Point, Hinton, and Beaverlodge will be staffed by a virtual physician when an in-person doctor is not available, offered through a provincial initiative that began on Jan. 20.

The group representing Alberta doctors says a shortage of obstetrician-gynecologists in rural and urban areas could mean more babies are being born premature and could have ongoing health issues.

The Cold Lake Community Learning Centre hosted the 21st annual Festival of Words: How to Train Your Dragon to Read, on Jan. 25 at the Cold Lake Seniors Society’s hall. 

The long-running festival, which has been taking place annually since 2001, will feature sleigh rides, a chance to participate in curling, a free lunch, along with delicious homemade cinnamon buns made by a local church.
