On Aug. 21, 16 cadets from across Alberta and other regions of Canada began an intensive 11-week course through the Law Enforcement Training Program in Lac La Biche to learn the nuts and bolts of being a community peace officer.

This summer, patrols by the Bonnyville RCMP on area lakes, such as Moose Lake and Wolf Lake, brought officers in contact with roughly 75 vessels.

Roadside workers in the Lakeland weigh-in on Alberta’s new traffic legislation, Bill 5, that introduces new rules for motorists when it comes to passing roadside workers with activated flashing lights. The new law went into effect on Sept. 1.

Over 300 positive tickets were given out in Cold Lake for July and August by Cold Lake RCMP, Cold Lake Bylaw officers, and 4 Wing Military police.

Residents across the Lakeland will be gathering on Sept. 17 to remember a Canadian icon and continue a legacy that has been taking place for over 40 years.
