Tax increase on average family home less than $5 a month, say municipal officials

A spring gala musical event was held on May 11 in St. Paul.

The Bonnyville Regional Fire Authority and the Bonnyville and District FCSS hosted community barbecues and information campaign on emergency preparedness with their partnering municipalities to raise awareness during Emergency Preparedness Week.

Often times hitting its max capacity for dog and cat intakes, staff and volunteers at the Bonnyville and District SPCA look to address current and future needs as the region’s human and animal population continues to grow.

Increased issues of abuse at garbage bin sites located at the Lottie Lake and Crestview locations, which includes people improperly disposing waste materials, or disposing of trash that does not fit on the bin sites, are being reported.

With the provincial election less than two weeks away, it’s candidate forum time across the Bonnyville-Cold Lake-St. Paul constituency, with the Elk Point Economic Development Committee hosting its forum on May 11.

On May 9, the MD of Bonnyville council approved the 2023 Tax Rate Bylaw, which will see an overall tax increase of 3.82 per cent. An additional bylaw was passed setting the Tax Penalty Deadline for Sept. 16.

It was a busy few days for lacrosse players in the area, as the Ice Melter tournament was held between Bonnyville and Cold Lake, featuring both local teams and teams from across the province.
