The City of Cold Lake’s finances are in solid shape, according to a detailed audit presentation delivered to council by Jeff Alliston of Metrix Group LLP during the City’s regular council meeting on April 22.

COLD LAKE - A large swath of grassland in Cold Lake South could one day turn into new residential neighbourhoods, as City council approved a key planning amendment that paves the way for future development north of 54 Avenue.

Under the restriction, portable propane fire pits, gas or propane stoves and barbeques, and catalytic or infrared-style heaters are permitted. However, existing fire permits remain cancelled, and no new fire permits will be issued.

A new school will soon replace Lac La Biche’s 52-year-old Vera M. Welsh Elementary School. The project is one of 11 school projects across Alberta that have been fast-tracked by the province for construction.  

A multi-cultural celebration took place in the halls of St. Paul Regional High School on May 13 as students enjoyed food from a variety of cultures.

Bonnyville EMS is settling into their new location west of Bonnyville after moving from their old home near the hospital to the new North Star building in April.

After being called out to two fires near Highway 881, north of St. Paul on Tuesday, fire crews were once again called out to a fire at one of the same locations on Wednesday morning.

Emily Russell has been a paramedic in Bonnyville for two months now, and says she prefers the emergent calls to the facility transfers – even when those emergent calls can surprise responding emergency workers.
