The Cold Lake Hornets will be making their debut this upcoming season. Earlier this month, the Western States Hockey League (WSHL) named Steve Thomson as the head coach and general manager of their new Jr. A team: the Cold Lake Hornets.

Students at Lakeland Catholic School District (LCSD) will be lacing up their skates alongside local teams in the coming school year. LCSD announced last week they’ll be partnering with the Bonnyville Jr. A Pontiacs and the Cold Lake Jr.

The Cold Lake Fighter Jets didn’t let the rain dampen their drive. The team came out on top of the Central Alberta Buccaneers 34-17 on Saturday, July 27.

Baseball teams from across the province took to the local diamonds to see who would claim the top spot.

The Bonnyville Shooting Sports Association (BSSA) unveiled a new addition to their facility. The local shooting range hosted an open house on Saturday, July 27, and showed off their new clubhouse.

It was a first place finish for two Lakeland Heat lacrosse teams. The bantam and midget boys both had strong showings during their provincial tournaments at the Calgary Soccer Arena from Thursday, July 11 to Sunday, July 14.

Local soccer teams finished their seasons with some hardware. The U17 and the U13 boys each walked away with a silver medal, while the U15 team captured bronze in provincials from Friday, July 5 to Sunday, July 7.
