Aug. 5, 2016, marked the two-year anniversary of the sudden passing of Dallas Steinhauer. Two years ago, Dallas was involved in a fatal car accident on his way to the Vilna Golf Course.

The St. Paul Golf Course hosted its annual club championship that gave the area’s avid golfers and opportunity to spend two days out on the course.

St. Paul native Jamie Sadlowski is known for his amazing driving range in the sport of long driving.

This year’s edition of Ashmont Heritage Days not only featured a parade, trade show, kids games and annual slo-pitch tournament, but the addition of a 3-on-3 basketball tournament also drew people to the small hamlet over the weekend.

While summer has people thinking about beating the heat, Northeast Alberta Track and Field (NEAT) athletes pushed the heat up a few notches as they traveled to Regina, Sask. to compete against the top youth in the Tri-Prov Western Canadian Champions.

For the first time in many years, a group of volunteers hosted a slo-pitch tournament in St. Paul this past weekend, with 24 local teams taking over diamonds across town.

It is not uncommon for sports to travel across the world and be enjoyed by new players. Hockey originated in Canada, and there are national teams all across Europe.

Over the weekend, there were three St. Paul Minor Ball teams involved in the final rounds of provincials. Each team had high hopes after working hard all season. The Peewee boys competed for provincial glory in Clive, Alta.
