A drop to the 1A school level for Ashmont School helped boost the senior high basketball team’s ranking to number two in the province when rankings came out last month.

The Saddle Lake Warriors Junior B hockey team played and won the team’s first game of 2011 against local rivals, the St. Paul Canadiens, last Friday at Saddle Lake’s Manitou Kihew arena.

The St. Paul Canadiens need to regroup, head coach Aaron Block said after the team suffered its third heartbreaking loss of 2011 last Sunday afternoon to the visiting Wainwright Bisons by a score of 11 – 1.
