The Lac La Biche Lakers game took place on Feb. 1 at Lac La Biche's Bold Centre.

League games between boys’ and girls’ Lakeland soccer teams from across the region took place at Lac La Biche’s Bold Centre on Feb. 1 and 2.

Lakeland Jr. B Heat Lacrosse coach Daryl Hodinsky has been awarded the Wayne Sutherland Coach of the Year Award by The Rocky Mountain Lacrosse League (RMLL), Alberta’s major lacrosse league.

During the first game, which took place in Edmonton on Friday, Jan. 24, the Voyageurs dropped a 5-4 decision to NAIT. NAIT also won the rematch, which was held at Lac La Biche's Bold Centre on Jan. 25.

The Lac La Biche Lakers continued their winning streak on Jan. 24 and 25 with victories over the Northern Alberta Lightning and the High Prairie Red Wings.

Held over the weekend at the Clancy Richard Arena on Jan. 25 and 26, St. Paul Minor Hockey hosted 16 U9 hockey teams from across Alberta.

Saturday was declared Pink Day at the A.G. Ross Arena. This is an annual event that has been held for the past three years. All proceeds from the 50/50's and raffle table that day was to be donated to a local cancer victim.

Cold Lake will not be getting an Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) team for the 2025-26 season after an application was denied by the league. 

The 2025 edition of the one-day curling bonspiel, which has been taking place for decades and features a hockey theme each year, was held at the Lac La Biche and District Curling Club on Jan. 18.
