Teams from across the Lakeland made the trip to Cold Lake on Saturday for Lakeland District Soccer league games.

ELK POINT - They called it “a little excitement in Elk Point” on Saturday night, as a penalty shot in overtime gave the Elk Point Elks a 6-5 win over the Kitscoty Monarchs of the SaskAlta Senior Hockey League.

In an Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) showdown, the Bonnyville Pontiacs defeated the Fort McMurray Oil Barons 5-3 in neck-in-neck game that saw Pontiacs’ captain Nicolas Beaudoin take a game misconduct, but also score a crucial hat trick.

The Bonnyville Pontiacs won their final two games of December beating the Drayton Valley Thunder 5-1 and the Whitecourt Wolverines 4-3.
