TERREBONNE, Que. — Quebec police have cancelled an Amber Alert, saying two girls who were missing from the Terrebonne area have been found safe. Police lifted the alert shortly before 7 p.m. -- four hours after they were reportedly last seen.

OTTAWA — Alfonso Gagliano, a former Liberal cabinet minister who played a key role in the sponsorship scandal of the early 2000s, has died. He was 78. His daughter Imma Gagliano confirmed his death, which occurred Saturday.
