It is with great sadness and much love that we say good bye to Mrs. Olga Haydak of Vilna, Alberta. Olga passed away on October 25, 2022 at the age of 91. She is survived by her 5 daughters, Linda Malo, Lynette Haydak, Monica Haydak, Donna (Brian) Nishi & Stacy Hardy (John Kelly); 10 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; sisters, Anne Emsky & Elizabeth (Harold) Jones; brothers, Walter (Pearl) Marceniuk & Bill (Helen) Marceniuk. She was predeceased by her husband, Mike; parents, Eva and Harry Marceniuk; son-in-law, Denis Malo; and brother-in-law, Alec Emsky. Olga was a beloved Aunt to many nieces and nephews and a cherished friend to many. Among her hobbies were community involvement with Vilna’s Ukrainian Dance Club and the Vilna Seniors Centre, bingos, casinos and bowling. She enjoyed competition at crib tournaments, Seniors Olympics and bocci tournaments. Not only did she enjoy playing sports, she loved watching sports as well. She loved her Oilers. Olga was always game to try anything new, especially if it involved having fun, and was fortunate enough to have travelled extensively. Destinations such as the Dominican Republic, Italy, New Zealand, Honduras, Guatemala, Pacific and Caribbean cruises, and many places in the United States and within Canada. We will miss her wisdom, kindness and fun loving personality. The family wishes to send a special thank you to Heidi and the staff at the Vilna Lodge Home for Senior Citizens as well as the staff at the George McDougall Smoky Lake Hospital for their care and compassion. A Divine Liturgy & Funeral Service was held on Monday, October 31 at 10:30 a.m. at Vilna & District Cultural Centre, Vilna. Very Reverend Father Don Bodnar officiated, with interment in Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Cemetery, Vilna.
