Blanch Eloise Martin (Emery) was born on October 18, 1938 and passed away on October 13, 2023 in St. Paul, Alberta. She was and always will be immensely treasured.

Blanch grew up on a farm by Therien with her family - father, Lloyd Emery; mother, Lora Emery (Strickler); brothers, Glen, Bert and Edmond Emery; and sisters, Ruby Careless and Della Smith - all of whom are deceased. The family moved to a farm in Armstrong, BC, where Blanch finished her high school. Bernie Martin patiently waited for Blanch to complete school, then quickly brought her back to Alberta. Not long after they married they went to help his Mom and Dad on the farm. Blanch devoted her life to raising five children: Owen (Judy) Martin, Evan (Gail) Martin, Fern (Bryan) Hewitt, Laurel (Randy) Olchowy and Heather (Wayne) Himschoot.

Blanch worked diligently at providing a clean and well[1]fed household. Not only was she an exceptional cook but she also sewed, darned and patched for all. She grew a huge garden, and canned or froze enough to provide till the next year plus. Blanch always raised chickens and helped with farming. She nursed and provided comfort for her family’s aches and pains. Blanch enjoyed her family, friends, church, crocheting, cards and dancing.

Blanch was a loving grandmother of Sandra Martin, Barrett Haddow (Jenn, predeceased), Genevera (Johnathan) Hunt, Tannele (Brent) Jacobson, Candace (Darrel) Thompson, Carson Himschoot, Austin (Meghan) Himschoot, and Zachary Cooper; and great[1]grandmother of Ethan, Danica, Mikayla, Tavian, Hayden, Parker, Aubree, Deacon and Avery.

Blanch and Bernie had a wonderful 64 years together before his passing in 2021. A celebration of life for both of them will be held at a later date. Cremation has taken place. To send condolences online, please visit www.gracegardensfuneralchapel.com
