Sylvia McDaniel passed away peacefully on December 11, 2023, at the age of 70, in Lacombe, Alberta.

She is deeply loved and will be missed by her son Thomas, her brothers and sisters Ellen (Metro), David (Sandy), Jerry (Tara), Lori (Dennis), her mother-in-law Lynne, brothers and sisters-in-law Larry (Margaret), Linda, David (Colleen), Diana (Joe) as well as many cherished nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and dear friends.

Sylvia was predeceased by her parents Walter and Helen, husband Bob, father-in-law Kevin, sister-in-law Maureen and brother-in-law Eric.

Sylvia was a kind soul, with a generous spirit and a big heart. She had an incredible gift whereby she could create all sorts of beauty through sewing, crafting, landscaping, plants and interior design.  She could have had her own HGTV show, she was that good.  She grew up on a farm near Elk Point, Alberta and throughout her life enjoyed going back to her sister’s farm to visit her mom and help out in the big garden.  She was a hockey fan for many years, and if you listen closely, you can probably still hear Sylvia cheering for Draisaitl and her Edmonton Oilers.  Although Alberta winters could be cold, Sylvia didn’t mind because she would be in her beloved Hawaii soaking up the sun and sharing her home there with family and friends. She loved red geraniums, she loved her big, extended family, but most of all Sylvia loved being Mom to her son, Tom.

We, her family, are so grateful for the unique and special ways she touched each of our lives.  Sylvia, we will think of you often and remember you with love.

A Celebration of Sylvia’s Life will be held on May 25, 2024 at 12 noon. We will gather at the Seniors Centre in Elk Point, Alberta - 5010 48 Street. If desired, memorial donations may be made, in Sylvia’s honour, to your local Food Bank or a charity of your choice.
