On August 5, 2023, Mrs. Lillian Pilipchuk of St. Paul passed away unexpectedly at the age of 77 years. She is survived by her husband, John Pilipchuk; her sons, Trevor (Beatriz) Pilipchuk, Dean (Robyn) Pilipchuk; and daughter, Tamara Stearns; 6 grandchildren, Joseph and Thomas Pilipchuk, Julia and Bowen Pilipchuk, and Bennett and Blake Stearns; her sister, Nadia (Marshall) Elkow; nephews, Chris (June) Bilawchuk, Dwayne Bilawchuk and their families. Lillian also leaves behind countless people who touched her life during her 30+ years as an elementary school teacher and the many decades every Friday at the St. Paul Farmers’ Market.

Lillian was born and raised in the Lac Bellevue area. In 1989, she moved back to the farm with her family where her passion for gardening, cooking, canning, and preparing Ukrainian foods really came to fruition.  When not in the kitchen, on the garden, or at the market, Lillian could be found enjoying her passion for watching sports. Whether it was attending her kids' school sports and slowpitch games and then onto the grandkids’ hockey, football, soccer, swimming, or ringette games, Lillian was frequently in the stands or watching online. If her family wasn’t playing, her TV was tuned into the Edmonton Oilers or Canadian curling while making beavertails, perogies and/or cabbage rolls at the kitchen island. However, regardless of what needed to be done on the farm, her door was always open and the coffee was always on ready for family, neighbours, and friends to drop in for a visit.  Her Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, August 16, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at the All Saints Ukrainian Orthodox Cultural Centre, St. Paul. Pastor Kelly Sibley will be officiating with interment in St. Michael’s Cemetery, Lac Bellevue. Those wishing to view the service online may do so by clicking the Live Service tab on our website.  A recording of the service will also be made available.  As Lillian was passionate about watching her children and grandchildren participate in sports, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to KidSport St. Paul c/o 5626-51 Street, St. Paul, Alberta T0A 3A1.
