There’s a lot to be thankful for. You could be grateful you have a roof over your head, food on the table, or family and friends. But even if you don’t have all of those things, you can be thankful for something.

Over the weekend, I had a whirlwind visit back home to Ontario to attend a childhood friend’s wedding. When I accepted the position here in Bonnyville, I’d already RSVP’d to the wedding and panicked that I might not be able to make it.

If you’ve had the chance to cruise down Hwy. 28 towards Cold Lake recently, you might have noticed something different, or not. The Ardmore intersection, where the main highway meets Hwy. 897, now has a reduced speed of 80-kilometres per hour.

Even if you didn’t get the Alberta Emergency Alert, you knew something was up. When a young Saskatchewan girl was abducted in North Battlefords, Alberta Emergency Alert was quick to share the news.

When I moved out on my own, I knew there were things I’d have to adjust to compared to living with my family. I’d have to remember to lock the doors, turn off the lights, grocery shop, things like that.

Since its inception one-year ago, the Bonnyville General Investigation Section (GIS) has proven time and time again that there is a need for the team in the community.
