GOODFISH - Elmer Whitford is feeling pretty great after learning he won $250,000 on the May 6 LOTTO 6/49 and EXTRA draw.

“The is one of the best feelings I have ever had!” he said at his prize claim interview. “I didn’t believe it at first, but now – wow!”

The new winner said the first thing he did was call his wife to tell her the good news.

“I had my daughter with me and said, ‘we have to call mom!’” he recalled. “But she didn’t answer and we had to tell someone, so we called my other daughter and told her.”

Whitford said he has started to think about a few different ideas for his recent windfall.

“I think we’ll start by paying some bills,” he said. “And my wife and I want to share with our kids, and maybe buy ourselves a couple fun toys, too.”

Whitford purchased his winning ticket from the 7-Eleven located at at 5202 – 55 A Street in Cold Lake. He won the top EXTRA prize and $10 in subsidiary prizes.
