ASHMONT – The Ashmont Ag Society Heritage Days summer celebration has been running for over 40 years. And once again, it offered an opportunity for the community to get together for a jam-packed weekend of fun on Aug. 12 and 13.
From a pancake breakfast, followed by a parade, trade show and market garden, to antique tractor, semi-truck, and lawn mower pulls, as well as kids’ games and much more, there were plenty of activities for all ages to enjoy.
Dale Hedrick was among this year’s organizers of the event and is also a councillor with the County of St. Paul, representing the Ashmont area. He says while the turnout for Heritage Days was lower this year, “There was still lots of people that came out to enjoy the day.”
“It’s to get the community together... to see people that you haven’t seen,” in a long time, says Hedrick. People who have moved away often come back to their hometown for the event, he adds.
Hedrick also expressed joy seeing the nearby “lake subdivisions coming out and supporting Ashmont.” He also thanked all the volunteers for organizing the events, including the volunteer fire department for putting on the Saturday pancake breakfast.
Among the many events, one of the most well-attended is the Saturday morning parade.
