Ashmont revs up the excitement with annual car show

ASHMONT – Locals and visitors ambled leisurely in the hamlet of Ashmont on June 17, with eyes fixed on the wide array of over 30 vehicles lining main street.

From vintage classics restored to their former glory, to more modern looking trucks and cars, and even vehicles built from the ground and up – attendees of Ashmont’s car show had lots to admire.

The car show saw registrants and visitors from the Lakeland region and surrounding communities come out for the day.

The aim of the show is to bring people into the community, and to support local businesses, said Dale Hedrick, the show’s organizer and also a County of St. Paul councillor. For a small town, the turnout is “pretty good [and] we have people from Thorhild, from Cold Lake,” said Hedrick, as he listed off just some of the communities that were represented at the show.

Food and a live band entertained guests throughout the day and night. A burnout competition was also held, followed by the results of the show being announced.
