Christmas day house fire in St. Paul appears intentional

St. Paul Firefighters responded to a Christmas day house fire just after 2:30 p.m., in the 5000 Block of 47th Avenue.

ST. PAUL - St. Paul Firefighters responded to a Christmas day house fire just after 2:30 p.m., in the 5000 Block of 47th Avenue, and after an investigation, the fire looks to be intentionally set.

When crews arrived, heavy fire was found coming from a basement window, according to information provided by the St. Paul Fire Department/Town of St. Paul Protective Services.

"At the time, three people were seen coming from the back of the residence. It is unclear at this time if these were citizens attempting to alert anyone who may have been potentially home at the time, or if they actually were in the building when the fire started," according to the information provided.

A total of 25 firefighters responded to the fire. The fire was considered under control and all searches for occupants completed at 3:43 p.m.

"An initial cause and origin investigation has deemed this fire as intentionally set, and any information regarding this fire should be forwarded to the St. Paul RCMP Detachment at 780-645-8870."
