ST. PAUL - RCMP officers are inviting residents to join them at the St. Paul A&W in St. Paul on Dec. 20.

"Officers are looking forward to sharing a coffee and having conversations with community members," according to information from the St. Paul RCMP detachment. The purpose of Coffee with a Cop - a new community engagement initiative - is to bring local police officers and the communities they serve together, over a hot cup of coffee.

The event will run from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.

“Coffee with a Cop brings police officers and the community together in a casual environment where they can discuss important issues and connect on a personal level,” said Sgt. Bobby Burgess, operations NCO for the Town/County of the St. Paul RCMP.

“The best part is the coffee is on us, so come on out and let us buy you a coffee,” he added.

Following the Dec. 20 date, there are two other dates already set for similar gatherings. On Jan. 30, Coffee with a Cop will take place from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at A&W, and on Feb. 27 at the same time and location.

Coffee with a Cop is a three month pilot project that will be assessed to determine the interest from the public.
