Thanks to some rainfall that began on Thursday and continued into Friday, a fire ban in the County of St. Paul has been lifted and downgraded to a fire advisory.

According to a media release from Fire Chief Trevor Kotowich, safe campfires are now permitted in campgrounds and other county areas. Issuance of fire permits for other burning is still restricted and no new permits are being issued.

"The County of St. Paul along with all the fire departments would like to thank everyone for their cooperation and understanding during the fire ban," reads the release.

Anyone with questions can contact the County of St. Paul at 780-645-3301 or St. Paul Fire Services at 780-645-4100.
