ST. PAUL/MALLAIG - A COVID case connected to École Mallaig School was confirmed by St. Paul Education on Dec. 9.
A letter from St. Paul Education Superintendent Glen Brodziak stated the school division was notified by an individual from the school that their child had tested positive for the virus.
The individual is now isolating at home.
Also on Wednesday, Brodziak offered an update during the school division's regular board meeting, stating that 18 cases of COVID-19 had been confirmed in schools since Oct. 7, affecting seven different schools.
The number does not include any at-home learners.
At the time, a total of 438 students and staff have been required to isolate as a result of the confirmed cases in area schools, since the fall.
Brodziak commended school staff and families for being so responsive, especially since the information on positive cases is sometimes received later in the evenings.
