ST. PAUL – The St. Paul Museum hosted a creative event for the community on April 7, in celebration of the Easter weekend. The event aimed to bring families together for fun and laughter.
Thomasina Hatch, the museum's curator, said children made little terracotta bunny pots, painted them, “put on ears and a nose and a tail and filled it up with a little straw and some candy.”
In addition to creating their own bunny pots, visitors were invited to participate in the "Find the Thimble” contest, which involved searching for a thimble hidden somewhere in the museum. Those who found the thimble were entered into a draw for a chance to win a $10 prize.
The contest was organized by the museum’s new curator, Linnette Newby.
"We also had free popcorn," said Hatch, adding that approximately 20 people attended the event.
"Everyone had fun. I know one mom... [who] said her kids had a good time and they thanked us,” she said. ”And they enjoyed the opportunity because they're new to town. So, they enjoyed coming to the event and coming out to something new in the community."
Hatch expressed her gratitude to the volunteers who helped make the event possible, saying, "We just want to send out a big thank-you to the volunteers because we can't do it without them."
Looking ahead, the St. Paul Museum is preparing for their annual open house next month, scheduled for June 11, from noon until 4 p.m. The event will feature live entertainment, a light luncheon, and is open to the public.
