Golf Club names 2023 champions in St. Paul

ST. PAUL – After a day of strong competition among a total of 39 participants during the St. Paul Golf Club’s Aug. 26 Club Championship, a couple of new champions were named, while two of the champions also defended their titles.

Jared Arcand won this year's Men’s category, while Armand Cardinal won the Senior Men’s category.

Meanwhile, Brooke Steinhauer defended her title and won the Ladies’ title again this year. Caleb Gratton also saw a repeat of his success from last year, winning the Junior category once more.

Sean Hovelkamp, club manager, said there are a few more upcoming tournaments planned before closing the golfing season.

On Sept. 24 a four-man scramble is scheduled, then a four-man cash scramble is set for Oct. 1, and a two-man 27-hole challenge will take place on Oct. 8. The upcoming tournaments are open to anyone, not just club members.

Following the conclusion of the tournaments, the golf course will still be open - depending on the weather, of course.

Hovelkamp said the 2023 season has been very busy compared to the 2022 season.

“We had a good weather this year. Everything went quite well, I would say.”
