SADDLE LAKE - A 50-year-old man has been charged with 18 offences, following a search warrant being executed on a residence in Saddle Lake Cree Nation on June 15. The Eastern Alberta District Rural Crime Reduction Unit (EAD RCRU) executed the search warrant.
"With the assistance of St. Paul RCMP and acting on information from the public, the warrant execution resulted in the arrest of a male," according to police.
As a result of the search warrant a 2009 Dodge truck was seized, along with construction equipment, a Honda generator, a restricted firearm, a non-restricted firearm, cocaine and methamphetamine, and Canadian currency.
“Reducing the harm brought to communities is one of the goals of the Crime Reduction Unit. Investigations like this take steps towards helping to reduce the this harm,” said Sgt. Mike Dunsmore, EAD CRU Unit Commander.
Tyson Hunter, 50, a resident of Saddle Lake, was charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, possession for the purpose of trafficking, unsafe storage of a firearm, and possession of a firearm/ammunition while prohibited.
"At the time of the arrest, Hunter was bound by two lifetime firearms Prohibition Orders," according to RCMP. After a Judicial Interim Release Hearing, Hunter was released and has a court date of June 29.
