Man fatally injured during RCMP response

In the early evening hours of Wednesday, Sept. 6, St. Paul RCMP were called to an incident involving a male causing a disturbance at a residence at the Whitefish First Nation.

In the early evening hours of Wednesday, Sept. 6, St. Paul RCMP were called to an incident involving a male causing a disturbance at a residence at the Whitefish First Nation. The incident resulted in a male being fatally injured by an attending RCMP officer. No other members of the public were injured during this interaction.

The Alberta Serious Incident Response Team (ASIRT) has been notified and is investigating this incident. This is in accordance with their mandate to effectively, independently, and objectively investigate incidents involving Alberta’s police that have resulted in serious injury or death to any person as well as sensitive allegations of police misconduct.
