Man shot in leg

On Aug. 8 at 9:45 p.m, Elk Point RCMP received a report of male who was shot with a shotgun on Frog Lake First Nation.

On Aug. 8 at 9:45 p.m, Elk Point RCMP received a report of male who was shot with a shotgun on Frog Lake First Nation. RCMP responded and determined that a 34-year-old male was driving a side by side ATV through a residential property when his dog got into an altercation with two of the property owner's dogs.

The 34-year-old then pulled a sword from his ATV to defend his dog when a 17-year-old youth appeared and shot him in the leg with a shotgun. The victim left the property and was later treated by EMS and then air lifted to The University of Alberta Hospital in stable condition. The injures sustained were severe but non-life threatening.

The youth, who can't be identified under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, was arrested and will be answering to charges in St Paul Provincial Court on Sept. 1.

Elk Point RCMP are investigating a Break and Enter that occurred on Aug. 10, between 6:00 a.m. and 6:45 a.m. where suspects entered the Canada Post Outlet at the Frog Lake General Store situated at the intersection of Highway 897 and Township Road 652. Once inside suspects stole blank money order and money gram templates, stamps and a metal lock box containing an undisclosed amount of Canadian currency. The suspects also entered the storage area of the Frog Lake General Store.
