VILNA – The community of Vilna celebrated its agricultural heritage and history during the annual Vilna Boomtown Days, presented by the Vilna and District Agricultural Society, Aug. 15 and 16.
According to information from the Village of Vilna, objectives of Boomtown Days include recognizing "agriculture as an economic base for our commerce," as well as an opportunity to showcase the village's cultural and ethnic diversity.
These were made apparent during the celebrations, which kicked off the night of Aug. 15 with the Roughstock Rodeo. Meanwhile, the Aug. 16 festivities started with a parade where floats from Vilna and neighbouring communities travelled down the village's historic main street.
After the parade, community members and friends from beyond resumed celebrations at the Vilna Cultural Centre, where activities like carnival games, bouncy castles, and various performances took place.
