No charges after woman walking along highway struck by truck

Elk Point RCMP are confirming tonight that a 47 year old woman was killed last Wednesday night as she walked along the highway in the Frog Lake First Nations.

Police say the woman was wearing dark clothing and was walking southbound on Highway 897 shortly after 8 pm. when a southbound vehicle struck her.

Police say the preliminary investigation indicates the woman was walking alone when she was hit by a pickup truck. The woman passed away at the scene. The driver of the pickup was not physically injured.

Elk Point RCMP say charges have not yet been laid against the driver. The RCMP collision analyst is assisting with the ongoing investigation and RCMP are also in contact with Provincial Medical Examiner in relation to the factors involved in the incident.

The name of the deceased will not be released.
