ST. PAUL - In the early morning hours of Aug. 15, St. Paul RCMP responded to a break-and-enter in progress at Kotowich Chimney and Installations, in St. Paul.
Two backpack leaf blowers had allegedly been stolen from the business.
Later that same morning, RCMP were advised a man was seen walking with one of the items on his back on the east end of town. RCMP responded and located a man in possession of the stolen property. Police continued their investigation and confirmed the identity of two people observed on security footage committing the break and enter.
While the investigation is ongoing, according to information released by police on Aug. 21, two people were charged.
Phillip Littlechild, 33, of Saddle Lake, was charged with break and enter and mischief under $5,000. At the time of the alleged break-in, he was wanted on numerous outstanding warrants from Edmonton and St. Paul. Littlechild was remanded into custody until Aug. 23.
Shawn Morin, 21, of Red Deer, was charged with possession of stolen property under $5,000. He was released and a court date of Oct. 12 was set.
"I would like to remind citizens to report all crimes and suspicious persons [and] activities," said Sgt. Robert Burgess with St. Paul RCMP. "Information gained from complaints received from the public often result in links to additional files and the RCMP solving these crimes."
He further added, "The information received from the general public is extremely valuable and can directly result in identify suspects of linking crimes to an individual. The public being our eyes and ears is a pivotal part of the community policing model."
