ST. PAUL – It was a rainy day on Aug. 18. So, instead of spending the afternoon outdoors at the splash park at Lagasse park, a community block party was moved indoors to the Cap Arena.
The rain was not a deterrent for a community of people who simply wanted to have some fun.
Kim Ouellette, Family Resource Network Coordinator in St. Paul, one of the organizers, said around 100 people came to the party. "We didn't know what to expect with it being moved indoors," she acknowledged. But seeing the turnout, "We're pleased to see the families that came out to join us."
The event was made possible with the cooperation between Cornerstone Co-op, Lakeland Family Resource Network, St. Paul Regional Family Support Services, Lakeland Family Eyecare, and the Town of St. Paul.
