Ranch Rodeo kicks off rodeo week in St. Paul

Kicking off the rodeo week on Aug. 25, the 2024 Ranch Rodeo once again took place at the Clancy Richard arena, bringing 10 teams and their steeds to St. Paul to showcase their skills on a ranch.

ST. PAUL – Kicking off the rodeo week on Aug. 25, this year's Ranch Rodeo took place at the Clancy Richard arena, bringing 10 teams and their steeds to St. Paul to showcase their skills.

Five ranch rodeo events were held, beginning with sorting, which pits teams against one another to see who can separate a specific calf from a herd, then move it to a designated area fastest. The event was followed by doctoring, stray gathering, milk race, and cowboy rescue race.

Paul Wanchuk, one of the organizers with the St. Paul Ag Society, noted there was no trailer loading event this year.

“It was a fun afternoon,” he said. People were able to get together, socialize, while enjoying some rodeo. “Thank you guys for coming out.”
