ST. PAUL – The St. Paul and District Chamber of Commerce hosted its annual golf tournament on June 7, marking on of the first events of the golf season in St. Paul.

Despite the windy weather, and balls not flying as they were supposed to, the mood remained positive, says Yvonne Weinmeier, the Chamber's executive director.

“We were definitely hoping for a much warmer and a less windy day, for sure... but everybody’s having a good time,” she says, adding, 24 teams participated in the fundraiser aimed at supporting the Chamber's advocacy work for local businesses. Their work involves providing workshops throughout the year for community businesses.

In addition to being a fundraiser, the golf tournament was also an opportunity for team building, and a chance for businesses and individuals to network with each other and just have fun.

She thanked the sponsors who helped with various aspects of the tournament, including golf balls, dinner, golf carts, and tees.

Looking ahead, Weinmeier shared information about some major upcoming events organized by the Chamber. The next major event is the Chamber’s rodeo kickoff supper on Aug. 28.

The Chamber is also hosting a job fair on Oct. 17, organized in partnership with several community organizations. Additionally, the Chamber plans to offer cultural awareness training and various workshops throughout the year.

Weinmeier concluded by expressing her gratitude to the wider community. “Without the support of the community, a function like this is impossible... that's what it's all about.”

The Precision Machining team came away with the best score on the windy day at the St. Paul Golf Course.
