ST. PAUL – The St. Paul & District Chamber of Commerce held a golf tournament on Farmer’s Day, June 9, shifting from its previous schedule of hosting the tournament during rodeo week.
Yvonne Weinmeier, executive director of the Chamber, explained the rescheduling was aimed at enhancing support for local businesses and the agricultural community.
Aaron Reid, first vice president of the Chamber of Commerce agreed, acknowledging that spring is a busy season for everybody, “So, we super appreciate everybody who was able to make it out.”
Beyond the fundraising aspect of the tournament, which helps the Chamber continue its operations, the golf tournament also provided an opportunity for networking and relationship-building, said Weinmeier, furthering the Chamber's goal of fostering a robust and interconnected business community.
“We’re a non-profit,” she said. But, “We also want to get people out there, mixing, mingling, getting to know [and] networking with each other, and building a bigger, stronger business community.”
Reflecting on the event, Weinmeier said, "It was a great day... and everybody seems like they had a good time."
The team from NMR Developments won the tournament, with the County of St. Paul team coming in second place. The Town of St. Paul team scored the highest score.
Weinmeier thanked the volunteers, the 51 participating businesses, and the overall community that came out to support the cause.
Looking ahead, the St. Paul & District Chamber of Commerce has several events planned, including social media mastery virtual courses, the Red River Cart unveiling ceremony on June 24 at Lagasse Park, and first responders' appreciation plaques this summer.
The Chamber will also be hosting a rodeo kickoff supper on Aug. 26, leading into rodeo week in St. Paul.
