ST. PAUL – On Dec. 19, the St. Paul Regional Family and Community Support Services (FCSS) distributed the hampers from its annual Community Christmas Hampers program.
Lynn Smid, the director of St. Paul Regional FCSS, said 229 hampers were packed for 184 families. "That's over $17,000 worth of donations for just the hampers, not including the Santa's Elves gifts also attached to those hampers," she explained.
She thanked all those involved with the program, including the local grocery partners, St. Paul Regional High School, and of course, "We are very, very grateful that the community stepped up to be a part of this."
Smid added, "We can't give out that many hampers without those donations... We can only fulfill that many hampers based on the donations of the community."
It's also important to realize these hampers went to "your fellow citizens in the County and the Town of St. Paul," said Smid.
"It's always an amazing feeling when you can see the generosity of others."
