ST. PAUL – The St. Paul Regional Family and Community Support Services (FCSS) is back again with its annual “Safe and Sweet Halloween” event on Oct. 31, but with a slightly new format.
Between 5 and 7 p.m., families and their little ones can drop by the Recreation Centre for some Halloween fun and treats.
There are going to be games for children inside, and “If they bring their own pumpkin, there will be a station set up for painting,” says Brenda Billo, a staff member with FCSS. The activities will be aimed at children between the ages of zero and 12.
“If they don’t have a pumpkin, they can come and enjoy other games . . . of course, they will get a little treat from us,” she adds
A selfie booth will also be available.
After the event at the Recreation Centre, Billo invites youth 13 years old or older, and their families too, to go watch a free movie at the Elite Theatre. The doors open at 8 p.m.
“There is limited seating," say Billo, so people should arrive early.
As always, the event would not be possible without support from the community and businesses.
“We’re just very thankful for the donations that have come through, and with those treats – we can ensure a successful event," says Billo.
Over the past few years, the Safe and Sweet Halloween event has been done as a drive-thru event where people could collect treats.
