ST. PAUL - The St. Therese-St. Paul Healthcare Centre has now been added to the list of hospitals with temporary service interruptions heading into the month of August.
The St. Paul hospital will be without onsite physician coverage in the emergency department from 4 p.m. Friday, Aug. 1 until 7 a.m. Saturday Aug. 2 and then again on Aug. 5 from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m., according the an Alberta Health Services (AHS) press release.
Nursing staff will remain on-site in the emergency department providing "triage, assessments, and referrals for patients to alternate emergency departments in neighbouring communities," AHS states.
"Patients are asked to call 911 if they have a medical emergency. EMS will remain available to the community and will work with area healthcare centres to ensure residents continue to have access to the emergency services they need. Residents are reminded to call Health Link at 811, which is available 24/7 for non-emergency health-related questions.
"AHS continues to work to find clinical personnel coverage for this time period. If coverage is found, this service advisory will be cancelled.
"This is a temporary measure, and AHS is working hard to ensure residents continue to have access to the care they need during this time."
