ST. PAUL – Across Canada, A&W held its 16th annual Burgers to Beat MS campaign on Aug. 22. A campaign in partnership with MS Canada
In St. Paul, there was a twist. The A & W location was filled with classic vehicles for a car show, with car enthusiasts and members of the community gathering to show their support for the cause.
Over 20 individuals signed up.
Dale Demanchuk, among the organizers, said volunteers from the community have been doing the car show for over a decade, noting it’s not just about cars, but coming together to make a difference.
Seeing all the people who came, Demanchuk said, “You can see how many people are coming here, milling around, and just enjoying the show. It’s also for a good cause. It’s a win-win.”
Lyle Hovelkamp, also one of the organizers, agreed. There are people from Elk Point, Glendon, Myrnam, and people from across the Lakeland. “Many people have a family, a friend, or someone they know who has MS (multiple sclerosis),” he said, and that the car show is just another one way for the community to show their support.
The organizers thanked all those who came.
“Thanks for everybody that made the effort... it’s a fun event,” said Demanchuk.
