St. Paul man faces charges in drug bust

A 37-year-old man is facing a number of charges after Elk Point and St. Paul RCMP found two marijuana grow operations at a rural residence north of the Town of St. Paul on Friday.

A 37-year-old man is facing a number of charges after Elk Point and St. Paul RCMP found two marijuana grow operations at a rural residence north of the Town of St. Paul on Friday.

The two detachments, along with the Alberta Sheriffs, executed a search warrant, and in addition to the grow operations, found and seized marijuana plants, cultivated marijuana, hashish, two firearms and $13,000 in Canadian and American currency.

Bernie Gamache is facing charges of production of marijuana, two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking, careless storage of firearms and possession of proceeds of crime. Gamache has been released on high cash bail and will appear in St. Paul Provincial Court on Oct. 21. RCMP arrested a second male as well, against whom charges are pending.
