ST. PAUL - The St. Paul Municipal Library is a busy place this spring with a full schedule of programming available in April.
Starting this week, patrons will be able to enjoy the Mini Canvas Art Show thanks to the participation of the community. Library members were invited to pick up a mini canvas and create their own unique work of art, and then drop it off at the library for April 4.
"They can put any medium of art on to the canvas," explained library programmer Monique Poulin, ahead of the deadline. "Then we will put up an art display of all the returned [art]."
The art show will run from April 5 to 18 and is open to everyone to enjoy. Ahead of the deadline, the library had given out 40 mini canvases to people of all ages.
And as the snow slowly starts to melt outdoors, another program is getting people thinking about spring, with a seed exchange being held at the library.
"It is quite simple," says Poulin. "People can bring us seeds that they will not be using, and they can take seeds that they may want."
The seed exchange will run from April 11 to April 29, although seeds can be dropped off before April 11.
Other events taking place at the St. Paul Municipal Library include Family Story-time every Friday in April at 10:30 a.m., Make it and Take it Toddler Time on April 19, and Family Fun Days on every Saturday of the month from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
An author visit is taking place this week on April 5 at 4 p.m. featuring local author Tara Severin. The event is for kids four years old and up.
A teen watercolour class is also scheduled for April 12 and 19 at 6 p.m. Space is limited and registration can be done through the library's website.
On Tuesday afternoons, there is also a Crafternoon program being offered where people can knit, paint, scrapbook, or do whatever creative hobby they enjoy, while visiting with others.
A Senior Citizen Appreciation Day is also scheduled for April 18.
