St. Paul Museum invites community for fun activities every Thursday

On July 31, the museum organized a "bear hunt" where participants searched the museum, including the newly installed train station for bear-themed items, as well as a face-painting event.

ST. PAUL – Summer students at the St. Paul Museum continue to host a series of summer activities every Thursday aimed at fostering involvement with the community and youth.

On July 31, the museum organized a "bear hunt" where participants searched the museum, including the newly installed train station for bear-themed items. A face-painting event also took place.

"Every Thursday . . . we do fun activities," said Savannah Robinson, summer supervisor at the museum. She encourages the community to come out.

The activities also serve to help promote the museum, especially to young people in the community. "When the little kids come in, then they'll maybe come back to [explore the museum] further because there's so much in here that people don't realize," said Robinson.

Summer student Sakura Lalonde agreed. "[The museum] isn't as boring as you think it is," she said, smiling.

Lalonde said the museum's Thursday activities are an opportunities for youth to learn about different things.

"When people come in and I get to do the job that I'm here to do, it overjoys me because I get to teach people something that they don't know," she said.

In addition to the bear hunt and face painting, the museum also recently held a barbecue fundraiser in collaboration with Cornerstone Co-op, raising over $900 to go toward the museum, said Alice Bourget, the museum coordinator.

She said the funds will help sustain the museum's activities and programs, adding she hopes families continue to explore the museum's many offerings.
