One man has been charged with aggravated assault and failing to comply with court orders, following St. Paul RCMP's response to a report of shots fired near a residence in Goodfish Lake.
On March 11, at about 8:30 p.m., St. Paul RCMP responded to a shots fired call near a residence in Goodfish Lake.
A vehicle was rammed off a road into a ditch by another vehicle. The victim that was driven into the ditch was then pulled out of the vehicle and assaulted with a weapon by a number of suspects. During this altercation, a single shot was fired into the air by one of the suspects. The victim was not shot but did suffer serious non-life threatening injuries and was transported to hospital in Edmonton.
Bryan Hunter, a 27-year-old from Goodfish Lake, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault and failing to comply with court orders. Hunter was remanded into custody after a hearing and is set to appear in St. Paul Provincial Court on March 16, 2017.
Police believe this was not a random act and the investigation continues in relation to this incident.
