ST. PAUL - As of Wednesday, the St. Paul RCMP detachment's doors will be locked as an added precaution due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

"St. Paul RCMP will be locking the front doors to the detachment on Nov 18, 2020, until further notice," according to RCMP. "The St. Paul RCMP will still be fully operational and available to meet the needs of the community."

Community members who need to make a complaint can call 780-645-8888. If residents have an administrative question, they can call 780-645-8870.

“We have the ability to accommodate many requests by phone and email," said Sgt. David Graham of the St. Paul RCMP. "With this being said, we are asking those community members that have access to these tools to do so as a first step instead of attending the detachment."

The change will not affect the RCMP's ability to ensure public safety, says Graham.

"We remain fully functional."

The move is simply another step to help screen who RCMP members and other employees at the detachment have been in contact with, and to help in keep the community safe during the pandemic, says Graham.
